Propagation For The Cut Flower Garden: Taking Cuttings

Cuttings are an invaluable and economical way of producing more in the garden, particularly from your shrubs and climbers. How you take a cutting depends on the type of growth and rooting habits of a plant. During this session, we will demonstrate the most common methods of taking cuttings. Timing is also important so we will spend time in the cut flower patch looking at plants together to give you a feel for when material is ready. You will then choose your own cuttings to prepare and take home.

This session runs over two dates. Much of the information will be repeated on each date but the plants available will, naturally, be different.

Friday, 5 July 2024: Early Summer Cuttings

Friday, 23 August 2024: Late Summer Cuttings

The morning will run from 10am – 1pm. Refreshments will be available.

These sessions form part of our wider range of courses, Propagation For The Cut Flower Garden. Over this series, we will introduce you to propagation over a flower farmer’s year. Sessions can be bought individually or you can attend the complete range over the growing season. The other sessions within this course are: Seed Sowing, Dahlias and Collecting and Storing Seed. If you would like to attend the whole course, please add your four chosen sessions to your basket and then enter the coupon code PROPAGATION24 to receive a 10% discount on your booking.

Please select “collection from the farm” at the checkout to avoid being charged for delivery.
